Maja leaves (Aegle marmelos L.) are one of the plants that have potential as SPF. The size of the SPF value is influenced by the antioxidant content, maja leaf extract has potential as an SPF due to the antioxidant content originating from secondary metabolite compounds of the flavonoid group, which have chromophore groups that are able to absorb UV light thereby reducing its intensity on the skin. Maja leaves contain various secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, tannins
and saponins. The aim of this research was to determine the total flavonoid levels and SPF values contained in maja leaf extract. This research uses experimental analytical methods. Simplisia leaf powder 500 grams of maja was extracted using the maceration method using ethanol solvent 96%, obtained a thick extract of 51 grams and a yield value of 10.2% which is includedin the good yield category. The quantitative test was carried out to determine total flavonoid levels and SPF values using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The results of this study show that maja leaf extract (Aegle marmelos L.) has a total flavonoid content of 154.857 mgQE/g or 15.4857% and has an SPF value at concentrations of 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm, 400 ppm and 500 ppm respectively, namely 3.33 (minimal protection), 4.27 (medium protection), 5.86 (medium protection), 7.07 (extra protection) and 8.5 (maximum protection). Based on research results from maja leaf extract samples, it is comparable to 154,857 mg of quercetin in 1 gram of extract and the highest SPF value at a concentration of 500 ppm cannot optimally protect the skin from UV-B rays.
