Abstract

Utilization of waste had Baronang fish bones (Siganus canaliculatus) into gelatin is an alternative to increase the economic value of waste, also because of the lack of attention to testing the activity of gelatin extract from fish bones which has medicinal properties. Gelatin basically is a pure protein, obtained from thermal denaturation of collagen contained in the skin and bones fish’s. Baronang fish bones contain collagen which functions to regenerate skin in burns. The aims of this research to determine the effectiveness of Baronang fish bone gelatin extract (Siganus canaliculatus) as drug of the healing burn in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus). The gelatin extraction from baronang fish bones with concentration of 3% acetic acid for about 18 hours, followed
by a characteristics of organoleptic test. The effectiveness test of baronang fish bone gelatin extract (Siganus canaliculatus) with variations in the concentration of 0.5%, 1% and 2%. The result obtained was organoleptic test showed the gelatin extract of
baronang fish bones (Siganus canaliculatus) are chewy, brownish in color, had adistinctive odor and homogeneous. In the effectiveness test of Baronang fish bone gelatin extract (Siganus canaliculatus), which has effectiveness against burns and the
best concentration for burns was obtained 2%, it can be concluded that baronang fish bone gelatin extract (Siganus canaliculatus) has the effectiveness of the healing burns.
